First Person: 'Great lineup' scheduled for REACH conference

One of my fondest memories growing up as a Kentucky Baptist was going to the yearly evangelism conference where I heard great preaching and learned how to share my faith. That opportunity still exists in the REACH Evangelism Conference that will be held at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown on March 18-19.

This year, I have the privilege to serve you as president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, which gives me the opportunity to encourage you to attend the conference this year. Check out this great lineup of preachers:

• Todd Gray, team leader of KBC's Evangelism & Church Planting team. I had the opportunity to hear Todd speak at a meeting of the Enterprise Baptist Association and can testify to his passion and fire in the pulpit.

• Joel Southerland, executive director of evangelism strategy at the North American Mission Board.

• Jon Reed, evangelist. We all fell in love with Jon at the Hope for the Mountains crusade in Pikeville last November.

• Matt Queen, associate professor of evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

• Carl Bradford, evangelism instructor in the Roy Fish School of Evangelism and Missions at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

• Danny Forshee, pastor of Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin, Texas and president of the Danny Forshee Evangelistic Association.

• James Merritt, pastor of Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, Ga., head of Touching Lives Ministry, and a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

• Larry Robertson, pastor of Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn.

• Scott Smith, missionary with Georgia Baptist Convention's Church Revitalization and Evangelism department. He works directly with a program called "Go Georgia."

• David Evans, evangelism director at the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. He previously served for 16 years as the church planting pastor for Epiphany Baptist Church in Springfield, Tenn.

• Steve Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn., and former president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Great worship will be accompanied by break-out sessions that should speak to many of needs you might have at your church to enhance evangelism. I encourage you to attend this vitally important conference. (KBC)
